Around the Campfire (General Discussion) / Whitetail Hunt 2
« on: November 12, 2019, 09:54:42 PM »
Loaded up our ATV's on the trailers tonight ready to head up to Manitoulin Island Friday morning at 5:00 AM for a pleasant 11 hour drive. This trip is a 8 day hunt.
I will report good or bad when I get back. The weather looks good, not much snow forecasted and just above freezing day temps.
Hope the rut is on because it was not last week at Burks Falls.

Heading up to our hunt camp at Burk's Falls Sunday for a week of rifle whitetail hunting, the weather looks likes a mix of snow and rain.
Heavy snow later this week and then rain/ice mix into next week. Hope the cool weather turns the rut on. Will post our results good or bad.

A man with two buckets of fish was leaving a lake well known for its fishing and was stopped by a game warden. The warden asked the man, "Do you have a license to catch those fish?"

The man replied to the game warden, "No, sir. These are my pet fish."

 "Pet fish?!" the warden replied.

"Yes, sir. Every night I take these fish down to this lake and let them swim around for about a half-hour, When I whistle, they all come back, jump back into my buckets, and I take 'em home. We do this every night."

"That's a bunch of hooey," said the warden. "Fish can't do that!"

"No, really! says the man. "Here, I'll show you." And he releases the fish in the lake.

"Well, I've GOT to see this!" the game warden replied.

The man and the warden stood and waited. After several minutes, the game warden turned to the man and said, "Well?"

 "Well, what?" the man asked.

"When are you going to call them back?" the game warden huffs.

"Call who back?" the man asked.

 "The FISH."

 "What fish?"

Around the Campfire (General Discussion) / Ground Hog Hunt
« on: May 01, 2019, 03:39:51 PM »
Heading to Mount Forest Friday to Sunday for our annual hog hunt. With the rain they already had and more in the forecast for this week I am sure how much hunting we will get in due to slop and mud. Always a good time no matter the conditions but this year we have an added feature. One of our young hunters is getting married this fall so we are having a bit of a stag party for him while we are there, all 20 of us!!

There is a local establishment near by (that young lads seem to be drawn to if you know what I mean ;)) so we will probably end up there one night, of course just for the young lads.... :)

Around the Campfire (General Discussion) / Funny Hunting Story
« on: May 01, 2019, 03:11:45 PM »
Two young men joined a hunting club. At their first meeting they were introduced to the oldest member of the club that was 94 years old. They asked him if he had any good stories and the old man said yes. " Back in 44 I was in Africa on a big game hunt. It was hot as hell and not much doing , so I decided to take a break in the shade of a big tree. I heard some rustling in the bushes and out jumps a big lion and lets out an enormous RRROOOOOAAAARRRR! Well I just sh#t my pants". The 2 young men look at one another in amazement. Then one responds to the old member and says "I don't blame you if a lion did that to me I would probably sh#t in my pants too" The old fella looks at him and says "Oh no it didn't happen then it was just now when I said rrooooaaaarrrr"
