Around the Campfire (General Discussion) / Shooting
« on: July 14, 2024, 08:14:10 AM »
One of the articles I read mentioned The shooting of other politicians. I remember exactly where I was when the Kennedys got shot. I was in the hospitol having back surgery when Reagan got shot. My surgeon was held at G W hospitol in case they needed him for Reagan. They didn't but he called me and told me why he couldn't visit me at Montgomery General hospitol. I was at Holy Cross hospitol in Silver Spring Md. in the aftertmath of Wallace getting shot.  The spot where he got shot had a painted spot in the parking lot  in Laurel Md. where he was shot. I worked in Laurel in the 80's and saw it. My dad was at Reagan's speach the day he was shot. My dad's sense of humor said Reagan's speach was terrible but they did not need to shoot him. I was surprised they did not mention the attemps on Ford.

Around the Campfire (General Discussion) / Lists
« on: July 11, 2024, 12:01:38 PM »
I am a list person. A couple of things that can change for you is your water source. Mine is city water from wells, always clean and no boil water alerts. If you are on a well,it won't work without electricity. My stove is piped in gas,so it always works. It will take a lighter to start it with no electricity. The oven will not work without the clock on it running. I keep freeze dried food around. It takes a lot of water and has tons of salt. MRE's are OK without all the water and salt. I did not include putting up my storm shutters. That is not a problem until I wait too long and put them up in serious wind.I don't think any of us are exempt from some kind of natural disaster so this might help plan for it. Ideas?

Looking like the major league ass Baldwin is going to trial! He'll probably buy his way out at the cost of millions of dollars.

Around the Campfire (General Discussion) / Where were you
« on: June 29, 2024, 03:31:45 PM »
Walking my dog today, I saw a CD in the grass. It said on it Alan Jackson and George Strait. Not exactly what music I anticipated here! I put in my computer and copied it. "Where were you when" came up. I know exactly where I was. I ended up sitting guard at the water treatment plant that night purely because the Ocean City Md. cop in charge knew  I was a good shot with no problems with the target. I am so afraid it will happen again with the genius Biden has let in on our borders, north and south! With Biden's staff abandoning a sinking ship like the rats they are, we better plan ahead ! CYA!

With the death of the 12 year old at the hands of illegals, Biden and Mayorkis should be charged as accesories to murders.  Letting them in is a crime on it's own.

Around the Campfire (General Discussion) / Hurricane season
« on: June 18, 2024, 03:21:43 PM »
Watching the stuff develop in the Atlantic and in the Gulf has me in the early stages of planning. Gas was 3.399  for regular. I filled my truck and both 5 gallon cans plus 2 gallons of alcohol free gas. The tropical crap near me is not predicted to develop . Trusting the government at any level is a mistake.  :)

Around the Campfire (General Discussion) / Rain
« on: June 13, 2024, 02:57:30 PM »
Governor DeSantis has declared a state of emergency for Florida with the floods. I am high and dry. The heaviest rains look to be a bit north of me. I have recorded 12" of rain in the last 3 days and it is still raining. The street in front has been flooded but it soaks in the sand pretty quickly. I am high ground for this part of the state, atleast a foot above sea level. LOL!

The news says the jury has reached a verdict without any more info. Being a NY jury, there is no telling.

Around the Campfire (General Discussion) / Watermelon
« on: May 30, 2024, 11:15:07 AM »
I have planted watermelon. The plants are doing pretty well. I asked both of my black neighbors if I had enough I would share if they wanted. Both at different times questioned about a white guy growing watermelons. My response to both was why would I plant them if I didn't like them. I found it pretty funny, almost racist. I did appreciate their honesty.   ;D
