Rifles / Re: Now I have me a dilemma

What a score, definitely a choice to be made. Maybe best to leave it alone. But the value of unfired and hunting memories Is definitely up to the owner.

I'd assume the stair stepper at the gym might be as important as the rifle range for this hunt! good luck to both y'all and and sure do hope to see some pic's of a successful hunt!

She’s working on her steps, I currently do 3 to 8 miles a day, yes there will be pictures

Outstanding, good luck!  Hope to read a good hunt report.  Any idea what rifle/cartridge you are planning on taking?

Whatever she shoots best, 6.5/300 accumark, Remington 700 mt rifle in 280 rem, 30-06 couple of them or her 300 ultra. Ultimately the rifle will be what she shoots best.

Well the better half drew a chelan butte ewe permit for bighorn sheep. 1 of 3 permits. She is extremely stoked. We have never hunted sheep before should be an interesting fall.

My 300 weatherby is getting close to being completed from my gunsmith, put a new krieger stainless barrel on it. Needing load data for 200 grain partition and 180 grain scirocco. Got any pet loads ?

Copper build up sounds like could be a culprit. Try 83 grain of h1000 with a 200 grain accubond. Doesn’t get anywhere fast but it gets there.

Other Big Game / Re: 300 win mag vs. grizz.......?

A few years back I went to Kodak island with a co worker to hunt Sitka black tails. He took his 300 weatherby loaded with 190 bergers. I had a 300 win mag stoked full of 210 Bergers. We got our deer they took both rounds to the boilers and stayed on their feet. On the third day we went to recover 2 deer that a fellow hunter had downed the day before and left over night. He stashed them in the alders and I wished I had loaded up some 220 partition instead of bergers. Both deer were fine but after the amount of punishment the deer took on that island I won’t be taking bergers again. We never did see a bear but the 3 other boats in that bay were looking for the 9’plus boar that had been seen in the area. Shot placement and bullet selection are key. Choose wisely.

I have never had problems with Accubonds, I shoot them in several of my rifles, elk are not very big fans of them. I love em

Looked high and low for remnants of bullet found nothing, heart was cut in half. Meat damage wasn’t as bad as the picture showed, really glad I didn’t hit shoulder blade. Only broke 1 rib. It did perform like a ballistic tip. One may have made its way through the factory. Oh well deer seasons over for me.

Nosler accubond 140 grain mv 3250. Shot was 200 yards buck down in forty yards. Not Sure what exactly happened but bullet never left chest cavity.

Reloading / 7mm weatherby
« on: September 02, 2020, 05:52:23 PM »
Have a chance to buy a mark v 7 weatherby mag deluxe, 24” tube and am looking for loads. Not sure if it’s worth it since my 7 rem mag shoots 175 partitions at 2960 FPS. Lefty’s are hard to find so may just be a safe queen. Thoughts?

Reloading / 300 wby issues

Have a mark v lh in 300 wby. Shoots 200 grain Accubonds family well with 83 grains h1000. Was trying 210 grain Berger’s to see if they would shoot better and all went to pot. Both times I have tried them the gun starts out 7” low at 100 then slowly creeps up. Only thing I have done different is switch stocks to a bell and Carlson medalist. Action is bedded along its the barrel floated. Loads are 80 grains h1000 in the 210s and 83 grains in 200 accubond.
