that's the way i read it too 1950, looks like 7mm began in 49. i'm curious if you have any wby authorized smiths around or known custom shops that specialize in wood finishing stocks that would fit it? I doubt Weatherby custom shop would but maybe so?

a gun that age in good shape I wouldn't just have anyone slap a pad on it for the sake of having a new butt pad. Just my 2cents, but I look at them as assets.

I would make sure something hasn't loosened on the rifle and the barrel is floated myself. Assuming optics are good - like 224 says have someone watch/video you shoot.

I purchased by daughter in-law that same rifle in 6.5creedmoor and it's very accurate. The 7mm-08 is another known accurate caliber - something sure seems like it's off either with the rifle or shooter.

Happy Thanksgiving gents;

Ya it's certainly possible it's shot out but before i'd invest in that i'd sure clean and have someone scope it as stated many times. of all the wby's i have had i've had 1 and it was a 6.5-300 chambered in a ruger 1 that was it. Others clean them up and they are fine, most people do not own these rifles to over shoot them.

But maybe he will take that advise and return - all we can do is lead a horse to water

I've been one of the nay sayers for sometime as they are ugly and i'm not into ugly. However after shooting my 30-378 with a brake and soon to be 338-378 i broke down and ordered a couple still in my waiting phase for them. I think they will serve the purpose for these rifles may try on some others i have threaded barrels on BC models - but I would never take a beauty and thread it just to suppress it - i have no desire to devalue a gem.

I have scopes with dials on them because i have to many to remember zero and guess. You can find deals on vx5 leupolds cut your free dial and never look back.

But the above stated makes sense too and accurate - it's a flat shooting hammer of a round;

Well the ole man still has it - the karma for my kid who says hunt this stand and this guy who's been MIA for sometime decided he was going to come back and do some rutting behavior! LOL - would be my best 8 point to date. Wasn't expecting this dude to come strolling in this morning.

He measured 21" inside and an 1/8 under 24 outside main beams. Didn't get much more measurements than that because i do not get caught up into "scores" really. But he will be shoulder mounted and we will find him a home. Great buck for our neck of the woods that is for sure. Tickled with him,

He was taken with my son's ruger LH M77 all weather 25-06 - i'd taken it thinking some hogs would show and I had just sighted it in for him to hunt with this season. He's been out of action for a while and dad had a southpaw model with an affordable caliber for him - well it works! 110 grain accubond, heart shot ran about 40 yards and piled up like he was supposed to.
