Curious, since the 9-lug had two versions, investment casting first and then the forged? in Germany, would that cound as two different actions or still the same.  I don't know, just asking

I am happy they are diversifying.  I am kinda purist if I buy factory.  Marck V 9 lug, M70 CRF...you get the my point.

Accumarks are free floated from the factory

Thanks.  I think you are right.  I have 2 others made a little later, and they are free floated.

34
I tried to search this but I am getting conflicting information.
Are the Mark V Accumark (300WBY and 338LM) supposed to be free floated or do the need pressure points.
There are a lot of posts on pressure points but the more I read to more confused I got

My 300 doesn’t like the TTSX for some reason. With what all I went through to find a great load, I’m not looking to change anything!
I’m also using IMR7828 behind the 180 TSX. Getting sub MOA groups now.
Getting .44 at 200 yards.  But I think I can take it faster.  Might try another load once supplies are more reasonable.

150 g if it's calm 180 g if it's windy.
Like I posted earlier, when I started hunting I only had one rifle, a .30-06, and I worked up a 150 g load for deer and a 180 g load for elk.

Since pronghorn antelope season was ahead of deer and elk seasons, I would sight my rifle in with the 150 g bullets and go antelope hunting.  Then I would re-sight with 180 g for elk, then re-sight again for deer.

Then I would be hunting deer with 150s and run into an elk, and shoot him with the 150.  Or I would be hunting elk with the 180s and shoot a deer.  Both worked, but it was a royal PITA changing bullet zeros every other week.

As I later got more rifles, I began to just zero each rifle to one bullet, and match the rifle to the animal that I would be hunting.  Then one year I took my .257 Ackley with 117 g Sierra GameKing bullets on a Montana unlimited tag Bighorn sheep area and the last day out this heavy, ivory tipped, dark antlered 6x6 bull elk came walking about 75 yards from me and ...

When I first got my .300 Wby I loaded it with 168 g Barnes TSX bullets and it worked great on Texas exotics, Montana bull elk, and a variety of South African antelope from a 30 pound Klipspringer to a 500+ pound Sable.

Then I switched to 168 g Barnes TTSX bullets in my .300 Wby, and they worked great on Montana bull elk, a variety of New Zealand animals from a fallow deer to a red deer stag, and in Mozambique from 40 pound duiker antelope to a leopard and another 500+ pound Sable antelope.

I have now switched to Barnes 180 g TTSX bullets in my .300 Wby, and I have absolutely no doubt that they will work great on any North American animal from pronghorn antelope to moose.

I know this is a few months old now, but what is your powder of choice and COAL for the TTSX.  I am using IMR7828 with 180 TSX

Nice looking rifle.
I know many people do NOT like brakes.  I do and installed on my two Accumarks that came without, just like yours.
I have on MK V without a brake, and 3 with.  I shoot the ones with, but I do wear double ear protection.

I shoot a 24 inch without a brake and a 26 inch with a brake.  Personally, I like brakes.  Only two of my bolt rifles do not have them.

The triggers need replacing and they are no longer available. I heard to fix the problem is a $500+ operation. I changed mine out years ago. The twist rate is slower on most calibers than now. Mine won't hadle anything over 130 lead bullets.

You are correct sir.  I still have a frist Gen German Mark V in 300WBY.  Has the old style trigger, tang safety, still works, but it has been retired.  It's a 24" barrel, 12 twist, but shot 180 grns with IMR4350 in less than half inch.
To replace the trigger, the also need to convert the bolt to have the safey on the bolt.  That's why it is so expensive.  Keeping mine orginal, have replaced it with modern version.

I have a 1959 model 300 and I don’t have that problem. 3rd trigger. I do about 1.5” groups. 180 gr. Hand loads.

Do you still have the tang safety or have your replaced the bolt with the newer one, (safety on bolt)
What trigger are you using

Rifles / Re: Older Mark V with the wrong magazine box
« on: January 01, 2023, 02:27:35 PM »
Ive talked to the service department at Weatherby and that's how we determined it to be the wrong magazine box.  They don't sell the old magazine box and told me to search online.
Blocking it is definitely one of the options I'm looking at but was trying to get it back to stock with the right magazine box for the rifle...... unfortunately due to nobody having one i will probably end up blocking it.
Appreciate the feedback.

If you do put a block, which is something they do a lont in the winchester you will need to trim the follower to fit then magazine

Never broke a barrel in in my whole life.

Agreed! Waste of ammo, IMO.

I am the same way
