Weatherby Vanguard Deluxe with synthetic black stock in 308?

Quickdraw

Hey Fellers,

I have a chance to trade for what the owner says is a Weatherby Vanguard Deluxe with a factory black synthetic stock in 308.

He says there is no model number or model name stamped on the gun. He says this is supposed to be a short run gun in the Deluxe series where Weatherby tried to see if the Deluxe with a synthetic stock would boost sales. He says the stock has a more pronounced and aggressive checkering that gives you a different feel from the basic Vanguard series stocks. The gun is supposed to have the high gloss metal finish.

I can't find any info on a Vanquard Deluxe with a synthetic stock. Has anyone every seen or heard of one? If so, what marking would I use to confirm it is a Deluxe and not a basic Vanguard?

thanks,
Hal

Being polished is the only difference in a deluxe action and Shiney with plastic kind of clash . A deluxe action calls for a nice wood stock. I don't remember Weatherby making a run like this but they could have.

Welcome to the nation! I believe the serial number will tell you the model. You could call Weatherby with the serial number and have your question answered.   :)

Thanks for the intel. I will do that on the serial number. I agree that gloss and plastic would clash. Is it hard to find a good factory wood stock?

Look on gunbroker and other "bid" sights for that stock. GOOD LUCK!   :)
