Hi, I just acquired a new Weatherby Vanguard Obsidian and took it to the range to zero the scope I mounted on it.
I notice that when I open the bolt and slide it to the rear the cocking piece has a flat tail or "tang" that juts out...when the bolt is slid forward this "tang" is in a track.
My issue is that this "tang" is sharp...at least the corners are, and since it sticks out past the rear end of the bolt when the bolt is opened. I found that I kept snagging the knuckle of my thumb on one of the "tang's" corners. I didn't think anything of it at first, but when a few moments after I noticed my hand was covered in blood from where the corner of the cocking piece tab made contact.
Has anyone experienced this problem, and/or have any recommendations for a solution? Would it be alright to file the corners of the tang round?
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
