Hodgdon powder

Hodgdon powder

I stopped by our local Murdocks yesterday and was happy to see that they had a fair supply of powders.

They limit you to 2 cans of powder, so I picked up a can of Titewad and a can of H4831SC.

It wasn't until I got home that I noticed that the Net Weight of powder in each can was only 14 oz!

The cans are the same size as the ones that they sold for years filled with 1 lb of powder.

So is this Hodgdon's answer to the powder shortage?  Pack less product into the same size can then raise the price.  In other words, screw the consumer every way that you can. >:(  >:(

Man, that sucks.  I knew some of their stuff came in 14oz weights (like Clays) but I did not think they'd resorted to that with rifle powders.  I guess I'd better check carefully if I buy any powder locally or online in the coming months.  Wonder if their 8lbers are now 7lbs instead, too?

Sounds like they need A letter with the word BOYCOTT in it. IF we don't it will only get worse.

I just talked to Hodgdon and they assured me they have not made any changes to their 1 lb or 8 lb cans.Said some of their powder had always been less than 1 lb but no changes had been made to the 1 lb cans that would now make them have less powder.

Ah good Roger. I just checked my last two cans. Benchmark and Varget both were one pound cans. That does tend to get me fired up when companies try to sneek one by you. Just yesterday I was online looking for motels in wyoming. And noticed there was one trying to sneek in on motel 8's business. Called them self somthing 9 same colors even made the 9 look like an 8 . I just dont like that type of shady business.

They started doing that with bacon around here too, smaller packs for more.  Now powder, is nothing sacred.
