Ghostman, I was nice earlier, and took you at your word that you're not a hater. But you appear to be trying to post inflammatory info and rile things up. You came to a Weatherby site, and found people willing to defend the brand. No shock there.
Now, the reality is, you don't know what you're talking about, and your comments belie that you are not a well versed rifleman or Weatherby aficionado. Furst, throat length has nothing to do with inherent accuracy. I have not one rifle from any maker which shoots best up close to the lands. Moreover, stout bullet designs like the Partition, A-Frame, E-Tip, TTSX, and GMX all perform better in my experience with more distance to the lands. That experience is several thousand rounds worth, across no fewer than six different manufacturers.
Additionally, the Mark V hasn't had a hammer forged barrel in more than two decades, nor has it come with a #1 contour barrel in that time except by special order. Even the ULW, with the thinnest Mark V production barrel is a modified 1.5 contour. To paraphrase the dark lord of the sith, I find your lack of facts disturbing.
I'm sure you'll want the last word, but here's the deal. I have immediate access to six different Mark Vs amongst my own safe and those of a few friends. I'll let you choose any one of them, and I'll shoot the load of my choosing against you with any factory stock rifle from any other production maker. Distance qill be 500yds, and the target is a 2MOA gong. The bet? A new Accumark for me, in 340Wby, or a rifle of your choosing for you, of comparable value. Time to put up or shut up.
