well I figured since no one's talking about deer hunting in Oregon I thought I'd better start or at least try and start some conversation about it. How many Oregon hunters do we have on this site anyway?  And without telling too much of course where's everyone going this year? Anyone hear any news on the cascades this year?

I wish I could be more helpful. I have hunted blacktail deer in the coastal mountains west of Salem for almost twenty years, but because I am a slave to work I don't get to travel into the Cascades to hunt.

Fall appears to be here already. Our weather has suddenly become cool and the rains have arrived early. There has even been some snow in the Cascades in the higher elevations. This change in the weather will help with the fall "greening" of the vegetation after the dry summer, so food and water should be plentiful. I am predicting a good hunting season.

I Live in Washington but drew a Chesimnus Deer tag for the OCT opening.  We hunted from the Snake river up, saw quite a few deer, and I left with a decent 4X.  Hunting from the river is tough but I never saw another hunter.  Quite a few deer to be had down there but I am not sure if the quality is as good as some other units in the state.  We hunted for 6 days and both tagged out on our first hunt in this unit, so if you willing to work it can be done. I live in Roseburg but drew a high cascade buck hunt this year. Going to do a 5 day backpack wilderness hunt in the cascades (Muleys, Benchlegs and Blacktail up there. heading out to do some scouting tomorrow hoping to find some good ground and maybe see a velvet buck or 2!
