Dillon RL550 help
« on: June 29, 2016, 01:31:10 PM »
Can someone share some wisdom on the Dillon RL550 reloading press please? I recently found my dads and it is extremely stiff. The main shaft has a but of surface rust on it which I'm sure can be easily removed with steel wool. That's about all I see wrong with it.
Should I completely disassemble the press or just add some sort of lubricant to the shaft once I've removed the rust? Any other tips on the care and feeding of this beast will be appreciated.
I would have posted pics but my internet is down and I'm having to use my phone

I would apply some lubricant, and then keeped it lubed all the time.
Helps to prevent rust from forming in the first place. I'm sure the rust on yours came from being stored.
Or possibly some of the bolts as well are seized?
William.

$68 to Dillon and they will refurbish it and that also covers the shipping it back. Well worth it. They will also upgrade any covered warrant items.
