My first kill this year with 6.5x300 on Wyoming mule deer. I used 160 grain Woodleigh bullet. Shot was 171 yards.

+1 on the pics. Interesting choice of bullets, what was your load, how accurate, and it's speed??

Congrats, and Welcome to the Nation. That is a bullet that most people know about, but is seldom used anymore. Not because its not effective, but theres so much new bullet technology that the old standards are over looked. I used Federal Woodleigh in my 7 mag in the 90's for a while and they worked well. Anyway, I also would like to hear some details. Good Going!

Thanks for the welcome. The bullet performed great. I chose the 160 grain because I like the heavier than standard bullet in larger capacity cartridges. As for the shot, the buck was quarting towards me, almost head on, and the bullet went through the front shoulder and penetrated the body just ahead of the hind quarter. One shot.

My first kill 5-6-2017 with my 6.5-300. A woodchuck at 309 yards. 130 grain Berger VLD. Not much left to photograph. My second kill came on Sunday morning just before I left for church. A weasel trying to get into my chicken coop. Two nights before he killed 3 of my wife's laying hens. Shot it from my deck and scared my wife so much I heard about it all the way to church. I didn't have time to take the muzzle brake off. I found a few pieces of fur. The parish priest, he hunts deer on my place, found it funny, too. I am still chuckling about it. My wife, not so much. Oh, by the way, about a 30 yard shot.

Bad mistake making the wife mad, I've described the muzzle blast from my 6.5-300 ULW as nuclear. My son sat back chuckling as I checked my zero last November, he said everyone sitting on the benches next to me would jump every time I pulled the trigger. Nice hooting!!!

Sounds like you really stretched the legs of your 6.5-300. Did you have time to factor in wind drift and the coriolis effect for that range?? lol  ;D

I have taken a few antelope with the 6.5 Bee but I use the 127 LRX handloads at 3500+ fps.
