Roy Weatherby designed the 300 Wby cartridge around the 180gn bullet. No matter what yours likes, such as Partitions, Scirocco IIs, Interlocks or TTSXs feed it what it likes best and practice, practice, practice.
I’ve taken several deer at +300 yards with my 300 Roy using the ordinary 180gn Hornady Interlocks. When you make a good shot with a 300 Roy the hunting part is done with, so have a good skinning knife ready.
Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, she walks into mine.

Used to do it on a regular basis as a teenager in Michigan.(just a few years ago:)  Got lots o attention of course. Pop's and Grandpappy  strenuously taught me to be aware of the background/sitaware to preclude any mishaps after the bullet passing through the little deer. We used the heaviest bullets available at the time.  Only reason I used that Cannon in Michigan,
was that it was handed down to me from family, and it had had mucho history in Wyoming and Montana. I cherish those hunts now.
Just got me a 460 (used) and can't imagine going over to Africa and killing any DG(R).
Guess I'll settle for hogs here in Florida.
Cheers all

I would suggest moving your blind or stand to the middle of the shooting lane of the power line. Then you only have to shoot 300 to 350 yards.Much more manageable.

For me in the 300 my go to bullet weight is 200 gr in the ELDX or Accubond.  I use also the Barnes 180 gr TTSX but not that often. I would use any of these on deer wth no issues but if it is Wt or Mulies I am after the 257 Bee comes out.

While it's hard to see, that little spot is a coyote I nailed with my .300 Wby in a MK V.  It was lasered at 347 yds.  I loaded a 150 gr Barnes TTSX over a max load of IMR 7828 SSC for just over 3500 fps.

That load would tend to get the job done.

Good shooting Dino. That load would give old Wylie or most any other animal a quick dirt nap. Or in this case I should say a snow nap. Lol

I've used that load for everything including the goat in my avatar up to elk.  I'm still waiting to recover a bullet.  I stopped this cow at a little under 225 yds. After the shot she just stood there and I could see steam coming out of both sides of her chest.  After about 30 seconds she just fell over.  No, it didn't split her into two pieces.

Had good luck with 168 gr e-tips with a 79.5 grain charge of imr 4955. Opens deer up. They make 10 yds and fall over.
