I also recommend the Burris scopes. I own two Burris scopes both are 2x7x32mm. One is on a 223 T/C with 14" barrel and the other on a 44mag with 10" barrel. The glass is very clear and provides sharp images in low light, and the LER helps to steady your aim with good arm extension. I've only shot out to 100yards with both pistols, although the 223 is capable of more than that and I'm sighted in at 1" high at 100. If I were going to shoot out to 300 yards, I would need the Burris 3x12x32. To me a few inches, and a few more ounces wouldn't make any difference as a good scoped shoulder holster would be used for carry and you'll always need a good steady rest when you shoot at game, especially at those distances.
