This rifle is new to me but not new.
First time to the range
Hornady Precision Hunter 162 gr ELD-X factory loads
10 shot group at 100 yards 1.38"
I called the one to the right so really it is a 9 shot group under 1.25"

Nice looking rig and a very good 10 shot group Mike. What scope is on it and what bullets were you using?

Leupold VX-3 , 4.5x14x40. Tally rings and bases
Hornady factory 162 gr ELD-X

I am happy, even if l can't do better with reloads

Congratulations nice rifle! I have a 26 Nosler and have been very pleased with it, you can’t complain about a group like that for hunting.

Thanks, yes l am pleased with this rifle. If l just stay with that load it will do its job just fine.
I am going to test the bullet in a recovery box, to see how it  performs

I think you're going to be surprised how well those bullets work.  In my opinion Hornady bullets are severely under rated by a lot of people.  I'm not sure why but for the price of them I don't see how you can go wrong.
Nothing is better than a Weatherby, big bore magnum, or a Colt.

Chris: l agree Hornady makes good bullets. I have used them for years, a 225 grain spire point in .338 was one of my favorites
What l have seen the ELD-X performs good in non-magnum caliber's. But pushed at magnum velocities under 200 yards, not sure of that.
If any members have  experience with these bullets in magnum caliber's l would be interested in hearing about it

I have used the ELDX 200 gr in my 300 Wby.  Shot a moose this season with it at about 135 yards. Dropped the moose. Bullet completely passed through. The hole in was about 1" or so and out was 3" approx.  My shot was through the top of the lungs. Slightly higher than I would have liked but I got excited and didn't compensate for my 3 inch zero offset at 100 yr.

It was Precision Hunter factory ammo.

As far as I can tell the bullet did its job .... moose did not complain. 😉

Thanks everyone
This rifle will be the backup rifle this spring bear hunt. Started last weekend but had to work so we are heading up this weekend. Season goes until June 15th. On the longer hikes in to glass this rifle may go, light and easy to carry

I know I'd be more than happy with that. That's some nice grouping, especially with factory ammo.
