6.5 300 handload help
« on: May 05, 2019, 11:16:57 AM »
My brother keeps buying what I call laser guided cannons and has me reload for him. Supposedly he gets 1 hole groups from one of my handloads out of a 257 wm at 200 yds . He just bought a 6.5 300 and wants me to get the competition dies bit I cant seem to find them and wondering if I even need to. Read somewhere that the freebore likes the grip a standard bushing gives. I'm thinking I might have got lucky with the 257, just standard rcbs dies. Would definitely appreciate any and all feedback, thanks!

There is a reloading section that might help you out a little. I use rcbs dies for my 6.5-300 and .257. I tried a few different bullets in my 6.5-300 but the most accurate Loads I have made so far is with the 129 grain SST’s and a large dose of US869.
My first try with these yielded unacceptable groups but my second round turned out really nice. I don’t know if I will trust them at this velocity on deer but as accurate as they are a neck shot should certainly do the trick.

Thanks, I will try to find it. Going to call hornady today, might go with a custom through them. See what they have to say
