Any new bows or crossbows this year?

Any new bows or crossbows this year?
« on: April 03, 2019, 09:04:13 PM »
Going to try my longbows in my Ox 5 blind and see if they are too long. Still have the same crossbow as last year. Not as much extra spending money for a bow this year. Make do with what I got I guess this year.
Anyone getting or got any new toys?

I tore one of my biceps while sliding down the side of Finger Mesa while elk hunting last October and am having trouble drawing my bow.  I should buy a crossbow this year if I get a tax refund, still waiting to hear from the accountant.

Just picked up a Samick Sage 35lb that I've been playing around with, might jump up to a one piece 45lb by next javelina season

You might get one with a hand crank. That will be a whole lot easier on you.

What is the minimum allowed where you hunt? If you draw more than 28” you are gaining about 3lbs per inch. That draw weight is legal here in Indiana for deer. Javi’s are easy to penetrate. We made sure we got as much arrow in them as we could. Made them easier to track.

30lbs here for everything shy of Bison (those require 40lbs) but after shooting my buddies Super Kodiak 45lb I think I want to jump to a nicer bow at some point. Mines rated 35 but on a scale I'm at 37lbs @ 28", so I'm pulling around 33-34 at my draw length, fully legal but still room for improvement IMO

I like the super kodiaks as well. Might look at some Martin’s also. They make good factory bows too.

I will probably be keeping my old AlienX for hunting, I bought a Mathews TRX38 last year for targets, Next week is my 2nd 3D shoot with it at the Paris ASA shoot. Should be a lot of fun, hopefully warmer than last year.

didn't do great, hit a few 5s that cost me a positive score. 2 were mis-setting my sight tape and one was just from allowing myself to creep before the shot broke.

But I still shot my average score of the mid-190s so without the 5s, I would have had better than average scores.

The shop owner that I shoot with won the ASA last weekend in the K-40 class and another local shooter won his Senior class. So hopefully I can keep hanging around with these guys and maybe learn a few things. Lesson 1: shoot more.

I also picked up a used Halon 32-6 just a few days ago. Gonna probably get a new string and set it up next week.
