Shotgun Hunt
« on: November 29, 2019, 04:11:28 PM »
My second year joining my cousin in our local shotgun hunt next week. We have some great farm land/bush to hunt with (4) tags to fill buck or doe. The nice thing about the shotgun hunt is we can take either sex, as usual I will post results and pictures.
Last year I harvested three of the four tags we had, probably won't happen again....lol
I can only take Monday and Tuesday off due to work commitments so hope we tag out early...

That combo should put a thumping on most anything. Good luck.

I run those Hornady SST sabot slugs in my Remington 11/87 with rifled barrel. Although I am yet to go hunting with it, I can easily hit steel out at 200m with them.
Aussie gun nut.

They do shoot very well out of my set up also. I sight them in at 75 yards and they are lights out
Terminal damage was massive and expansion was excellent on game last season. ;)

I have never used Sabot slugs but for years we used good ole Winchester 1 oz 2 3/4, Winchester 3” and Breneke slugs. I will drag mine back out one of these days.
My main slug gun is a Remington 870 with a 20” smoothbore with rifled sights.
Good luck and hope you guys have some good luck.

That IS a sweet setup. Now that I see it, I want to say I’ve seen it before but just probably forgot that it was yours. Probably saw it from this hunt last year!

Looking at the picture. Whitetail lying in the oak leave, has me thinking about whitetail hunting again. Haven't been in 14 years or so
