As much as I love buying a brand new gun sadly I'm with you in that I'll be looking for gently used rifles since I can't get what I want.  I never thought in a million years it'd come to this with Weatherby but unfortunately that seems to be the case.
Nothing is better than a Weatherby, big bore magnum, or a Colt.

I've been looking on gunbroker and see the Wyoming Silver Edition and Wyoming Gold edition Mark V's. about $6500 and $10000. Way out of my league but talk about beautiful wood stocked rifles. They are!

It makes me sad that there’s no more paper catalog. I was one of those kids that sent their hard earned money in and waited for what seemed like forever for it to arrive. When it did, I didn’t put it down for days.
A Weatherby was my dream growing up. It was like a major benchmark in my mind. They were a thing of beauty.
I have to say that my first is a Weathermark. My next 2 will also be synthetic stocks. I will find a Lazormark to grace my wall one day.
The Weatherbys in the Cowboy Museum in OKC are some of the most beautiful rifles I’ve ever seen. Unfortunately, IMO, most companies have lost the quality and the glamour of the rifles of yesterday.

Elkhntr08, part of the reason for companies not producing what you call Glamorous (which is a great word to describe the pizzazz of the custom rifles of yesteryear) rifles is the cost. The use of Beautiful or exotic wood has become a rare and expensive venture for most manufactures anymore.) All of the exotic woods like Mesquite, or curly or birds eye Maple, and Tiger stripe walnut are expensive and hard to come by. A lot of aging goes into the wood process. (these are just things I've read over the years) Some of the guys here on the Nation have ordered wood blanks, had the stock made, then finished the wood themselves and they've done some great work. On a running thread called "Eye Candy" 224King is spotlighting some of the exotic wood stocks he collected over the years. I'm not sure if you went through the custom shop for a build, whether you could order an exotic wood stock and have the shop detail it for you?

Danno50, I’m a patient man. I’ll find what I want at a price I’m willing to pay. That’s what makes it fun to get up in the morning. It’s the thrill of the hunt.

I love a well done paper catalog. My first dreams of a Weatherby go back to the late 1950's in the printed catalog my dad got. There were boxes to be checked in the magazines at the time that got a bunch of catalogs in Field & Stream. He checked them all.  My plastic stocked Mark V's number exactly Zero! I use facebook to stay in contact with distant friends, nothing more. If you think you are more secure by not using it, it's a mistake. If you are online at all for any reason, you lost your security a long time ago!

For you're enjoyment! This isn't a catalog, but it focuses on the craftsmanship the Weatherby Masters of the past put into Custom Rifles over the last 70+ years.

I can put a 224 Varmintmaster made in Germany with a 24 inch barrel in your hands for $700.00 cheaper than that one.
