The last 10 years I have used two different rifles and cartridges on Whitetail Deer. During that time period I have taken some of the best Bucks of my hunting career.
And the rifles and cartridges or calibers whatever you prefer.
1. Muzzleloader Season: T/C Omega .50 CAL. Muzzleloader
2. Rifle season: Remington Model 700 XCR in 7mm Rem. Mag.
Prior to that time period:
1. Muzzleloader Season: T/C Omega .50 CAL. Muzzleloader and a T/C Black Diamond in .50 CAL.
2. Rifle Season: Remington Model 700 XCR in the great 30.06
I have used a 30.06 in Browning Bar MK II Safari and other rifles, really and truly whats wrong with the 30.06?
I did take a Doe one time with my WIN. Model 70 in 300 WIN MAG. I guess all that is boring, never taken a deer with any cartridge smaller than 30.06. Upper end was .300 WIN. MAG and .50 CAL. Muzzleloader.
However I am wanting to try something different, broaden my horizons….
Would love to try a left hand Weatherby in .257 Weatherby, 270 Weatherby or maybe a 7MM Weatherby. Not sure which one I would start with. Decisions, decisions, decisions.....
