Last year in the county I live in a 16 yr old took a nice male with a bow while elk hunting. He was cow calling and it stalked in on him. He looked over his shoulder and it was crouched behind him he drew and turned at the same time. Kill shot was at 7 yds! that's why I said be careful calling in that area.
a 1/2" group is good enough for the girls I go with!

Nice cat !   jlorsun is absolutely correct.  Here in AZ we have more cats than most people think, and that goes for a lot of States just because you don't see very many  or at all doesn't mean they aren't there.   I hate to think how many times we've been watched by a cat out hunting locally.  Yes they can be called in just like bears, foxes and other predators.   I don't call as much anymore and when we do it's with 2 people sitting back to back for a reason. A very close friend using an electronic call shot a smaller female maybe 90 pounds or so when calling he actually shot the call also blew it to crap, she came in within 3 minutes apparently she was sitting on a dead mule deer buck a few yards away from where the call was sitting, you know darn well she was sitting there watching him, and this is why you don't leave your downed field dressed game animals out over night in some canyon  or ridge line unless you absolutely have to and when you do go back to retrieve  your animal take a handgun,  a good friend didn't do that and guess what he really should have.   I got up and personal with Mtn lion a few years back when I got him cornered he could have swatted me so fast.   I got a picture of one taken by a local Indian that's well over 200 lbs, I won't release any pictures because I don't know the guy.  About 10 years ago or so I heard another was hit by a car and the local law enforcement had to finish it off and that one was over 200 lbs as the story goes.  Bears in our area will track you also.  One cat i really wouldn't want to tangle with is a Bobcat they may not eat you, but they can sure  shred you up if they wanted, even Mtn lions don't like tangling with Bobcats. We  have a few Jaguars in AZ  I've  seen them when we were kids back in the 60's.    we still have them down south on the border not many but they are documented & photographed and here.  Jag's look like a Leopard of steroids powerful animals I've never heard of a Jag going after a person,  anyway  cats are just sneaky and given the right circumstances they can go after you.

When we talk about animal attacks. I remember walking to the bus stop with my next 3 older brothers. The neighbor had a collie that would attack us every day.  My dad talked to the owner and it stopped for a few days. My next older brother got bit. Next d day, he stole a can of shaving cream. The dog came after us, we wrestled it to the ground and covered it with the shaving cream. He  ran home and told my mom the dog had rabies. She called the Sheriff. He sent out the model for Barney Fife. He saw the dog and put a 38 SPL round through the dog's head. DRT! When the truth came out, my dad loved to tell that story till his dying day!  1957?
