Weatherby .270 Mag

Why does this calibre not get much love?
I do not contribute much to the forum but read lots of the threads and comments and hardly see any love for the .270 Mag.
If I am reading the ballistics right it looks like a do all calibre including open plains and big game animals.

Seems like a great all around caliber. I have never fired one but I would love to. The .300 wby seems to be the crown jewel for most but I have killed a lot of critters with a savage .270 growing up and would imagine the weatherby mag would blow its doors off.

I think they go for the 257 and up to the 300. Pretty much covers it all.

I have two 270 Weatherby mags and just took delivery of my first 257 bee today.  The 270s are a little easier on the shoulder than my 300 Wby.

Unless you're hunting dangerous game, I think the .270 is perhaps the best "if you could only have one caliber" choice for most North American hunting. The .300 is a winner and a helluva round, no doubt, but the .270 can do the job with less recoil. I believe it is (or at least was) Ed Weatherby's favorite caliber.

I have a .257 and with a break it kicks like a .243. Elite for deer. I shoot a .300 WM for elk but would use the 257 in a pinch. My hunting partner uses a .270 for everything successfully it really is that sweet spot between too much rifle and not enough.

guilty of being a 257 nutcase will always be my favorite, ran across some deals on 270's and man 140's to 150 grain my mark v's shoot lights out.

But yes you see a pretty one side by side to a 257 it generally doesn't command the same price tag. Lots of good used deals, 7mm also great calibers don't seem to catch the demand as 257 and 300.

270 Wby Mag was My first choice when buying my first Weatherby 40+ years ago and still my go to rifle. Mark V Deluxe. Own many others but the 270 mag is my favorite.

I just finished making up some .270 Wby loads for a fallow deer and pig hunt next month. I haven't used my .270 Wby on anything so decided to take it along.

It is a good caliber...I own one. I should use it more and it is a really enjoyable caliber to shoot.

Nothing but good things to say about the .270 Weatherby Magnum.
