Weatherby Brass vs. Norma?

Weatherby Brass vs. Norma?

I've heard multiple times Norma makes the brass Weatherby uses in their ammo. Would or is there anything different between the two? Would you expect any different results in a norma head stamp vs. wby head stamp performance wise? Have an opportunity to buy some of both just have never bought the Norma headstamp stuff before and always used the brass from Weatherby ammo.

I’ve used both. No difference.

Unless something is changed Weatherby uses Norma brass in their ammo.  A lot of things it seems is made by someone else with their name on it,  ammo brass is no different.  I wonder who makes Nosler brass, Winchester, Remington, Federal, Hornady,  and others,  etc.  I'm almost sure that manufacturers change throughout the years.   If you were a small ammo maker  and have the bucks you could have your own head stamped ammo/brass.

I have used Norma brass and Weatherby stamped brass in 7mm and 300 Weatherby rifles. I have not noticed a difference.
Since I rarely looked for factory ammo, I think the only other big manufacturers for 300 Weatherby are Hornady and Nosler. Swift makes 300 Wby ammo but not on the scale as the others.

Whilst chances are that the brass is similar, I would weight it to see. You may see two distinct groups. You can also check volume with water and check weight of the water in grains and sort like that.

I have factory Weatherby ammo brass for my 340 and other brass (was it Weatherby or Norma - will have to check) which differed a lot.
I shoot cases with a belt because I feel the other cartridges need to pull their trousers up.

I think the Weatherby brass will be thicker than the Norma brass. That's been my experience in the past, but I was loading 257 mag brass and down.240 and 224 as well.
