Anyone on here have any feedback on what bullets / factory loads works best for accuracy in your 6.5-300 Wbys?

I have a relatively-new Accumark and an Accuguard in that caliber and am trying to settle on a load.

Many thanks in advance for any comments.

i'm not much help to you, the only ammo I tried was the factory 127gr's, the short time I played with a 6.5-300. That load really impressed me, and would have no problem using it for anything I would use the 6.5 for. The 140's on paper look very similar in performance as the 140's in the 270 Wby, so in theory they should work good also, on game. As for accuracy only your rifle knows that.

Every rifle is different in preference. My sons 6.5-300 accumark liked the 127 Barnes and 140 sciroccos and hated the 140 aframes. While my ultra lightweight liked the 127s and 140s  and sprayed the 130 sciroccos all over the target. With the shortage of ammo and components it’s even tougher to find an accurate load nowadays. If anything the 127 Barnes lrx seem to be a safe bet.

I have an accumark and an ultra lw models that like the factory offerings in 127lrx, 130 scirocco and 140 aframes. Liked the 140's the least but with that being said it was still under an 1". Wasn't looking to use the frames for long-range anyway so that didn't bother me much and  perhaps it was a long day and my shoulder was getting tired of the pounding! LOL

If your rifle likes the LRX or Scirocco ammo you will be set, then you just have to find enough to last you awhile. Personally i prefer scirocco bullets downrange accuracy and on game terminal performance in that monster have been outstanding!

Good luck, welcome and keep us posted with your progress!

I was able to get 1/2” groups with 3 different bullet weights fairly easy with imr  8133 just doing a 3 shot ladder. Not that fast for the caliber but still plenty fast. I’m about to start load development for 156 bergers, looks like a little above 3000 but waiting on a call back from Berger. Will be trying LRT, 8133, and n570.

Do the A-Frames have more surface area in contact with the bore than the spire points? I had a 270 Win that didn't do well with 130 grain long boat tail bullets but did superb with flat-bottomed 130s.

My Mark V Ultra Lightweight loves the 127gr Barnes. I started with the 130gr Sciroccos and both bullets offer excellent performance on game at virtually any range but the Barnes bullets have always notoriously held together exceptionally well at 0-infinity... I have gone to Barnes exclusively in both my 6.5-300 and my wifes 257 wby.

Good question I don’t have the correct answer for you.

I loaded 130g Sciroccos with 92 grains of US 869 and they were all over the paper at 100 yards.  I bought a box of 124g Hammer Hunters I plan to load with the 869, does anyone have a start load they have used?

Compare them with the 130's in bearing surface. If 92 was showing any kind of pressure with the 130's then back off 5 grains to start with the 124's and work up to a load you like

I own both a Mark V Ultralight and a Vanguard 2 and they are both happiest with Barnes 120gr TTX bullets.  Luckily both guns shoot the same load very well.  I fired over 500 rounds in load development for these 2 rifles :-\.
