Best Caliber for Pronghorn Antelope?

Leaving shortly for New Mexico for Pronghorn Antelope.  Granted these aren't huge animals, but I am considering taking a pistol in case I come across one farily close.  I have a .357 Smith mod 686 and a scoped Smith .44 Mag.  Anyone have any opinions as to which they would prefer?  Both pistols have 6 inch barrels.

See this is a little late .... assuming you can shoot the 44 as well as the 357 the answer is simple ... 44.  Otherwise, for me it would be the one I had the most confidence with.

Shoot straight and not too often :)

.309JDJ, 6.5JDJ. in a Thompson/Center Contender. easy to load flat shooting and devistating. the 3rd choice would be a Contender in 7-30waters, another good thin skin cartridge. but if your only choice is the 357mag or 44mag go with the 44mag with 240gr bullets.
