So even though many said a brake is not necessary, i decided to still try one, WOW what  difference.  LOVE the low recoil and my group size shrunk.

You have to make the pictures a smaller size!

Recoil effects everyone differently, my 340 is the only Weatherby I own that likes to slap me around!!! Wear hearing protection if you use it hunting.

I have a first lite vanguard in 257wby.  I tried the brake to see if there was any difference , definitely works , but it really doesn't kick much without it . The noise level isn't worth it tho

My 257 is also a AccuMark and it’s the sweetest shooting rifle I’ve ever owned.
I don’t imagine I’ll ever put a break on it.
Life is what you make it. Enjoy because none of us get out alive.

I don’t think it would make a huge difference for me in accuracy but it would be pretty sweet for spotting misses. I’d venture with a decent scope you could watch the vapor trail.

Low recoil and small groups, what more could you ask for. :)

I sent my 257 to Weatherby several years back along with my 300wby.  I’ve had more than a couple surgeries on my right shoulder and elbow and wrist….killed my arm playing baseball as a kid with no pitch count back then.  Anyway…the 257 now kicks less than my 243.  I had my 257 and my 25-06 at the range yesterday.  I noticed the recoil of the 25-06 (not a lot), but the 257 is like shooting a 22lr….almost.  Definitely LOUD though!  Ordered hunting earplugs for my son and I this year (his first year hunting with me).
