Fellas, I’m after advice on best powder/s to fast path my load development. I’m planning on loading 180gn Bullets, primarily Nosler Partition. My barrel length is 24”. I have access to H4350, H4831, H1000, RE22, RE25, RE26 - so would like suggestions on experience as to which powder will likely yield best performance in this load combo. Thanks

I've found that IMR 7828 SC gives me both good accuracy and velocities in my .300 Wby.

I'm using RL-22 for my 180 gr TTSX loads.

Thanks everyone who replied. I cannot get any IMR powders so that rules 7828 out altogether. I guess I’ll give Re22, H1000 and H4831SC a crack and let both the target and chronograph decide. Cheers 👍🏻

Of all the powders you mentioned, I’ve used RL25 the most. Many pounds of it. It’s excellent in the 300 Weatherby. Especially good with bullets 180 grains and heavier. All the powders you mentioned are acceptable. RL26 should work well too. I haven’t used it in the 300 but use it in the 240,257, 270 Weatherby and 7mm STW.

RL26 is listed as “slower” than 25. Maybe it is maybe it isn’t. I do know from experience that if you substitute a maximum load of RL25 with RL26, you will have excessive pressure.

H-4831 has given me the best accuracy. I have also used it the most. RL-26 gives me the fastest velocity (3225 ft/sec muzzle vel) and good accuracy too. I would use it for sure. W780 was fast but velocities were all over the place.
H-1000 and IMR-7977 produce nearly the same with speeds with the same loads.
All loads above were with a 24” barrel and 180 grain bullets.

In our 300 Wby's vanguard and MKV,   my powder of choice is currently H1000 with a Barnes TTSX-BT 180 grain I've backed the loads off to around 3150 fps but accuracy is 1/2 "  3 shots and consistent month after month after tuning the rifles up, glass bedding and free floated from about 3" foreward of the chambers.   Both of these rifles are 24" barrels and I can get 3300 fps if I bump up the powder charges, BUT primer pockets start opening and I don't need to push them that fast anyway.  Other Powders I've had good luck with are the regular  IMR 7828 and the sc version, RS Magnum I didn't push as hard as I probably should have,    Retumbo I needed to test more.   MRP, MRP2,  RL22 and RL25 & RL26 gave good velocities and decent accuracy.   IMR-7828 would be my second choice as per accuracy nd good velocities.   H-4831 and IMR-4350 shot very well with various 180's I just didn't get quite the velocities I am looking for.   I do have some newer IMR- 7977 and IMR-8133 but haven't shot it yet,  IMR- 4955 shot OK more like  H-4831 loads.    It's a fairly easy cartridge to load for and doesn't have a lot of bad habits,  I do think once you find a good load and the right bullet performance is to stick with it and not try to get to fancy on pushing the outer limits of the cartridge.  Keep the barrel clean and stock up on what ever reloading components it likes for the next round of shortages.   Sometimes I get a little anal and try to see if I can improve something that really doesn't need it.  If I could choose 3 powders for the 300 WBY using 150 to 200 grain bullets it would be H-1000, IMR-7828 and MRP any one of these if your rifle will shoot them is going to give you pretty good performance.  There are some new powders that might be worth looking at when you get the time.

7828 is really good in mine , since you can't get that, h1000 and re22 work good too. My 300 likes just about anything with 180gr or 200gr bullets , any of the lighter bullets i really have to work to get it ti shoot good.

H4931SC and RL22 are the 2 I go to first.

Not knowing where you are, the reloader 22 and 25 are fairly temperature sensitive. 26 is a step forward. My temps only vary 40 degrees as a rule.

RL-22 and H4831SC are my go to powders for my .300. I used RL-22 in my 8mm remington Mag so it was my first pick for the .300.
