Can someone tell me why Weatherby does not make a rifle in 270 mag in a Vanguard? Some folks can't afford a 3-4K rifle but would love to have this caliber!

My guess would be that they make them in the high sales calibers.  :)

Yup. I think it is centered on what sells the most.

Often you can find a lightly used 270 mark v for less or same as some of the higher end vangaurds. Just a though, but i can understand frustrations for those who want one in a more affordable rifle setup;

Agree with previous comments i'm sure it's centered around money

actually now is a pretty good time to find a good used Mark V.  Hunting seasons are mostly over, and xmas coming, always someone needing a little extra cash. Take a look at gunpost, gunnutz, and other online places here in Canada, I have been seeing quite 270 Wbys up for sale lately.

In the late 80's Winchester chambered their M70 in the 270 Weatherby mag. Those are great rifles. I have one. You could keep an eye out for one of these. I agree with your post , and also wish Weatherby would show some love for the 7mm Weatherby and chamber it in the Vanguard lineup.

Found mine as an unfired demo for $900 a few years ago.

They are out there.

you can always, find a good used vanguard in 7mm RM and get it rebarrelled for a 270 Wby for a reasonable price.

My 270 Weatherby Magnum is a Winchester Model 70 XTR.

It is an awesome rifle and the can generally be found for reasonable prices on Gunbroker.

Just don't get it in a .300 Wby mag. It'll kick you into next week. Ask me how I know.

Ha! Ha! A friend of mine has a Remington 700 Classic in a 300 Weatherby. He told me that rifle has a bit of recoil… ;).

I can testify to the Remington 700 with more recoil I have shot both at same setting weatherby mark v very noticeable less recoil with same ammo ( both shot extremely well) been few years back no longer have classic 700 300wby kinda wish haven’t got rid of it now the prices I see older 700s going for on gun broker these days
