I bought a "refurbished" Nikon scope a while back. With no warantee,I thought I had a deal on price. Of course, Nikon is out of the scope end of optics anyway. The elevation knob required a pair of pliers to adjust out of the box. I could and did deal with that. When the "dirt" stared showing up inside the scope, I replaced it. Recoil wasn't an issue as it was mounted on a heavy barreled Howa .308. I might have gotten 50 rounds through it. It wasn't such a deal after all.  :)

My son put a Nikon on his Rurer 77.  I didn't care for the aiming circles. When I told that to a Nikon rep he replied that the eye is drawn to a circle. I asked why the main crosshair wasn't a circle. No answer.

This one had simple crosshairs.  I have not had any problems with the other Nikon scopes.

I got a good deal on USO TS scopes, so I replaced my current scopes on two of my hunting rifles with 5x25x50mm TS. And I really like them, I have only one season with them but found them clear and well made. My eyes are getting old and I ran a Vickory Zeiss on my 7 mag and liked it so much I put one on my 257 Wby. But  I must say my 3.5x10x44mm Vickory Zeiss is the tough and clear as they come as I have tried most everything.
