M-1A scope

I’m in search of a scope for a M-1A. I would like to stay under $500. What are your choices based on use?

Not quite the same, but my son-in-law has a Weatherby made 308 and he put a Vortex Diamondback 4x12x40 on his. It's a nice scope for the price. It's got multi-coated glass, easy to operate, 1/4"moa, and I believe he paid a little under $300 dollars. I don't know how much it weights, and if your intended use is hunting, but I don't think a 40mm objective lens will hamper you. (open areas or close cover) jmo

If you're willing to get close to that $500.00 mark you might want to consider a Meopta from Camera Land NY. I put one on my .257 'Bee several years ago and don't regret it one bit. On the range it is brighter than my Zeiss Conquest on my .300 and doesn't give up anything the Swaro on my custom 6.5 X .280 AI.
