What do ya'll think of the new MK V Apex? I have mixed feelings. I like the fluted barrel and bolt body, but not liking the stock between the butt and grip. The comb appears high to me and mostly lacks the classic Weatherby forward slope that Roy seemed to consider an important element of Weatherby design (which moves the comb away from the cheek during recoil rather than across or into it. He always put a lot of thought into every aspect of shooting a rifle. There seems to be no info on the trigger. Opinions?

I'm not crazy about the looks or the MSRP.

Yes, pricing is not attractive, nor is the stock, despite a nice barrel and action. Quite contrary to when I first saw a Mk V at age 12 or 13 - what struck me then (and that thought remains with me to this day) was, "wow what a fine looking rifle; I REALLY want one of those!" No way my dad was buying me one of my own, so it had to wait. He did buy me a Marlin around that time.

Negative on the stock. If your on a rafting hunt it could always double as A paddle.

LMAO!!!!!  Good call!

All plastic rifles look the same.  I'd rather buy a used wood stock Weatherby than one of those new ones.  Hopefully Weatherby will offer this rifle in a wood stock.

Us old people with tons of money are no longer the targetted buyers. It's  kids with money that need a muzzle brake on a .22!  ;D

I see that as targeting an audience who likes the long range gun and those guns (look at the custom jobs) are big bulk to some ugly hunting rifles. I'm not a fan, but i'm the demographic that has a look and like to show off a good looking rifle in a photo! :)

I do see this as a market worth getting into with so many perusing 6-10 thousand dollar custom rifles. Why not you can get a semi custom (my view of it anyway) and play with the long range crowd? There is a new audience out there love it or hate it.

I do prefer the fluted look over carbon jobs offered, but they make those too! :) I bet she shoots a long ways - but i sold most all my accumarks or gave them to kids for lighter rifles! LOL

Weight is of no concern to me. Barrel length is in a caliber to take tough as nails hogs at 50 yds is! The only real ugly rifle is an inaccurate one, except this one!

The high comb would give the shooter a better cheek well. I have a Hornady add on, on all my Weatherby rifles to obtain it
Note the add on in the photo

That comb is so high, I'm picturing my cheek literally smashed into it to get my eye in line. Everybody's different, but I don't like my face too tight on the rifle.
Come and take it.

Just a guess on my part. The new (er) scopes used for long range shooting have scopes about as big as a 2 liter pop bottle. Ok, that was an exaggeration. But look at the size of them scopes with 34mm main tubes. The center of the scope is far to high for normal comb height to get a cheek weld. You either need an adjustable comb or just a really tall one.

I agree with what others have said, I'm not a fan of the stock design.  I am not a target shooter, but that stock design looks to be more geared to that pursuit.

I'm more of a classic stock design fan for a hunting rifle.  I used to be a wood stock person and I still have a big appreciation for fine wood, but I've come to realize it's material limitations and now I have roughly 50% woods stocks and 50% synthetic stocks.
