New Weatherby 307.

Here's a link.  Sort of a copy of a Remington 700.

https://weatherby.com/rifles/model-307/

Unfortunately, Weatherby has a problem with recalling their own history.
The first Weatherby action was the Mark V 9 lug, then the 6 lug 308 length Varmintmaster which was also used for the original Weatherby single shot pistol. Then they came out with the 6 lug, 375 H&H length action in late 90's or early 2000's and used in the butt ugly 2006 single shot pistol, and now they have the fourth action, which is the 307.

Of course the Howa 1500 is in there somewhere as well, making the 307 the fifth action, not the third.

It's clearly not the first new action in 50 years as stated by their press release video since the CFP action had to be created somewhere between 1997 and 2006.

I am happy they are diversifying.  I am kinda purist if I buy factory.  Marck V 9 lug, M70 CRF...you get the my point.

Telling a company like Weatherby how many actions they have came out with. That’s a whole new level of arrogance, even for you Tony.

Curious, since the 9-lug had two versions, investment casting first and then the forged? in Germany, would that cound as two different actions or still the same.  I don't know, just asking

The problem with sites like these is being exhibited here. We have the Weatherby-Can-Do-No-Wrong people versus the Weatherby-Can-Do-No-Right crowd. Now that I’m older and more successful in my career, I can afford more. I own more than a few Weatherby rifles and I plan to own more, God willing. Honestly, I love their rifles and proprietary cartridges; however, I hate the new 307. Honestly, a two-lug action designed to accept Remington 700 stocks seems like something that was introduced over 50 years ago. Nothing wrong with that, but I own several of those old rifles also, and they’re called Remington.

I also hate robo-stocks and magazines that hang down so far that they aren’t conducive to or needed for hunting. Also, the bolt looks cheap, like it’s from a $300 rifle.

But this is just me. We all need to understand that gun companies survive by offering new products. And apparently, the younger crowd seems to like rifles created by breeding a bolt action with an AR. So I don’t blame Weatherby for creating the 307.

In summary, I absolutely hate this rifle, but I love the fact that a good rifle company is willing to invest in new products.

Now, to you Adam Weatherby, for the old guys who have the money to spend, throw us a bone. Offer us a mini Mark V in .224 and some decent ammunition for it. Or other classic things. My guess is that it won’t happen, which is okay. I’ll just spend my money elsewhere.

^^^ This is spot-on from my perspective as well.

I've always been a big Weatherby fan and presently own about 15 Weatherby rifles.  I was simply pointing out the obvious.

As far as Marketing personnel.....I'm not a fan.

I'm surprised you didn't mention the 307 Winchester from the early 80's, Tony.   ;D

Did  Weatherby violate Winchester's patent on "307"?  LOL!

I'm sure that everyone is aware that 307 is the area code for Sheridan as well as the rest of Wyoming. :)
