Gentlemen,
I am looking for the Mark V Backcountry models in .308.
Backcountry 2.0 features a #1 barrel while the Backcountry TI features a #1 Mod.
How do these contours differ in muzzle dia ?
"You have the models reversed."
But I agree with you, the contours in the two models would probably differ in diameter, but how much in measurements is a technical spec. that may or may not be available. We'll presume, or take at its spec's value, that the Backcountry 2.0 Ti is a #1 contour barrel, made with an expensive light weight titanium action, along with the fluted barrel, enchanted with a lightweight rifle stock and a 3D Hex recoil pad. (total 4.7lbs.) Mostly the same as the 2.0 except for the action. (total 5.2lbs)
I think that the Backcountry 2.0 rifle in order to make its lightweight entry level spec, the rifle weight (to include the barrel contour) had to be reduced some in order to achieve the overall weight goal. Therefore the dia of the barrel contour of the Backcountry 2.0, if measured would be less than that of a 2.0 Ti #1 barrel contour dia, making the 2.0 a modified #1 barrel.
The percentage of removed dia. from the barrel contour being enough to effectively reduce the overall weight, but not enough to add to the whipping action of the barrel. To help the #1 contour 2.0 TI and the #1 Mod 2.0 contour, both barrels are short (22" of effective rifling) making the barrels a bit stiffer for stabilization. (before the muzzle brake)
I also think that the "mod" in the #1 mod or #2 mod could mean an increase or decrease in the dia. of the barrel contour depending on the chambering. JMO/guess
