Fight! I'm surprised the bear didn't make more use of those big claws.

LOL, I remember seeing that video a while back.  I believe that was a young bear.   Cool experience to be there and watch it unfold.

A true reminder of the raw, unpredictable, and inherent characteristics of animals in the wild. "Don't Feed the Animals" is a sign thats largely ignored and is the cause of many animal attacks. Imagine that bear doing that to a human.

The hogs I hunt feed side by side with the cattle at the corn trough. Hogs cost me $200. Cattle are $1500. Bobcats get me free hogs.   ;D

I'd like to see how that bear snuck up on the hog :).

I'd bet is was food or piglets or cubs. Those hogs with tusks won't be an easy target for a bear and fairly close in size.

Hogs are tough as nails too. Most other animals would have been dead in the same amount of time (and repeated neck attacks). I've seen those hombres get back up and run after a hit that should have been a D.R.T. shot.
Come and take it.

I have seen 4 to 500lb wild hogs with tusks.  The bear was smart to leave. I won't shoot those big hogs as I am a meat hunter. I might as well try to cook my boot as shoot one of them. 200lbs. + or- is my limit. I have seen my nephew put 5 rounds of .223 in a  200lb. hog that escaped.

Not to steal the thread but staying with the theme about bear attacks, the first link is a trailer from the 2014 movie "Backcountry" based on a true story. The second link is a short narrative on the true story behind the movie. Gives you a lot to think about.

I guess I have told about the boar hog attacking me several times here. At about 3' away, i put 5 41 mag rounds in the hog. I had the brains on my boots. The gun was loaded with 250gr. Castcore Federals.  Drawing my gun was almost automatic without much time to even think about it.

If you're going to hunt game in bear country, I'd say be as prepared as possible whether you're hunting alone or with a partner. Bear spray and a trusted weapon that is always readily available. I would have little comfort in statistics on bear attacks. One in 2.1 million is still one attack too many for me. I'd enjoy my hunt, but I'd be plenty vigilant.

I am allowed to carry a handgun here while hunting, even bow hunting. I'm not sure if that is legal in too many places. I see snakes and gators as a bigger threat than bears. Yes, we have black bears and moutain lions in Florida. A guy was attacked by a rabid river otter recently.
