I bought a fixer upper boat this summer. And wanted it for a St. Clair river walleye and lake Huron trout and salmon boat.
Finally got it in the water last week and cought nothing . But went back on Saturday as the coho and steelhead are coming in closer to shore with dropping water Temps. And was thrilled to hear the drag sing and a 7 color leadcore set up.
The fish jumped only once . And I handed the rod over to my brother when he wasn't able to extend my net. And it made a few runs for him too.
So we both got to fight the first fish to hit the live well.  27" 8 lb very colorful steelhead.

Nice steelie, hope there will be many more in the future. Have they cleaned up the waters south of Detroit and going into lake Erie? I remember going to Sterling State Park as a kid and walking through dead fish to get to the water.

Congrats on landing a good looking keeper. Love it when a fish makes a run, peels off line, and the reel hisses, its just a great feeling ;) 8).

Thank you !
Dino I don't know. I never fish down that way. But as a kid I remember going somewhere that way and there were dead fish all over the beach. I think that was a isolated incident.  I have never seen anything like it since.
But a freind of mine walking the shore of Lake Michigan a couple years back found several small dead sturgeon skeletons. That was weird.
