Here is the ideal rifle for a young shooter or female hunter. The Vanguard® Youth/Compact package features our lighter than standard Vanguard 20" barreled short action bed to a scaled-down hardwood stock with shorter 12 1/2" length of pull. The Compact also includes a full size injection-molded composite stock ($139 retail value) that lets the Vanguard grow with the shooter, providing a lifetime of rugged and dependable use.

My son's first gun and for a 9 year old, Brandon is very happy I chose this Vanguard over a Sony Play Station 3 - about the same cost!  Now we can spend time together...that is the gift to me! 243 caliber gives flexibility to hunt varmints & deer.  Hornady SST ammo preferred in Custom & light Magnum loads. :)

Im jesse and I have a vangaurd in .243 win. I shot 2 deer with it this year!!!!

I also missed a doe but she was moving slow and I did not have a steady rest  :(
I like my gun because it does not kick much and it is a beginer gun but that is ok
so I recomend this gun to you young hunters.... Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m an adult who needed a more compact rifle with a lower powered optic for hog hunting. I got the Vanguard compact in 308 Win and discovered that I didn’t really need the stock extension that comes in the box. I mounted a Leupold VX-6 1-6 power scope on it and have taken 6 hogs with it since January! It is quite accurate. It’s a dream to carry. In 308 Win, it has plenty of power for even the largest hogs! Currently sighted in with Win Power point 150 gr. Federal Power Shok 150’s shoot to the same point of aim. Im now thinking of getting one in 243!
