shims on accumark
« on: May 19, 2024, 04:26:49 AM »
I have a accumark 6 lugs
when I took it appart some shims fell out from the aluminium bloc
4 of them
my question is how do I know where they go.    like 2 in the back and 2 in the front or otherwise

front screw seem to stop positively at 55 inch pounds the back seems mushy before it stop
when I put them loose the action seems to sit correctly on the block

any experience or tips on this

thank you

None of my Weatherby rifles have shims. Are you the original owner? If you are not, it’s possible someone put shims in to try to float the barrel. Or maybe it’s a replacement stock that didn’t fit correctly.

yes brand new from factory
and in the instructions boocklet they show the shims
one in the back and one in the front
but I have 4 of them that fell out and I don't know if they go 2 on each side or 1 and 3

sent a email to Weatherby and waiting for answer
will let you know the answer

I would think the front shims would be wider than the rear shims and if they are all the same I would say they came out of the front to free float the barrel.Accumarks have free floating barrels.

Pictures?
when I slip a paper to see if the barrel is free floating it goes all the way back leaving about 3 inches of barrel in front of action
should the paper go al the way to the receiver ?

the answer from Weatheby came as what are the shims for and how are they put

Those shims are there to flush up the stock with the bottom metal so it looks flush and even.  You can use them in whichever configuration is needed to accomplish that.  They do not affect the functionality of the firearm.

I hope this helps.

Ah,so they are between the bottom metal and the stock.
