I am interest to know if anyone knows anything about a High gloss Maroon bluing of the bolt block on my 1955 JP Sauer &Sons W. German
.270 Weatherby magnum Mark V ?
It may be factory it has been that color for more than 60 years

Sauer and Sohn Marks V's started being built in 1959.Yes, on some of them the bluing would turn a plum color in a few years from new for some reason.

yep have several that look like that, around the action/bolt area, plum colored for sure;

I've seen early Leupold scopes do the same thing.

took the words out of my mouth tom, i think somewhere i have a matching pair of plum scope on receiver! :)
