Summer has disappeared here in Minnesota, a low of 50 and a projected high of 62 today. The next 10 days are going to be in the 60s and 70s, hopefully the rain lets up. We are already above the average for moisture for the year!  :o

The heat here has not changed, still triple teen heat indexes.  For the first time in days, I missed the afternoon thunderstorms. Looks like another tropical storm brewing in the Atlantic !

It’s 88° and with 96% humidity, it feels like 96°. Temps for the next ten days will all be triple digit, with no rain in sight.

The evaporator in one of my A/C systems is shot and needs replacing - leaking. $1800 - ouch (that could have been a rifle or something, but hey, crap happens and you have to roll with it).
Come and take it.

I have an 84 model doublewide on one of my places. It was put there new. We've been patching on the  original A/C for about the last 5 years. It's completely out with no chance of repair this time.$7700 for a new system.Thinking about getting one big window unit for the living room with heat and air combined and then do just A/C units in bedrooms.Probably spend $3k on them because we would install with a wooden box in each window with insulation instead of just letting them sit on the window sills.I could probably swing the central heat and air,but it's gonna hurt.

Any advice?

Window units will use the savings in electricity in no time at all. My electric bill went from $160 a month with window units to $110 a month when I installed central air.  That was 19 years ago.
