He posted fire cracking. This happens in the throat area and several inches down the barrel in all cartridges sooner or later, but much earlier in cartridges like the 30/378. The 30/378 is a barrel burner. To make it last you have to space out your shots and find a load in the first 60-70, then it should last for a lifetime of hunting.

canadian reloader is absolutely correct,  if you look in the barrel with a bore scope you would be amazed or concerned just how imprecise, heat checked/cracked, wallowed out barrels can look and still shoot pretty darn good actually,  it would be like  looking at a cars well worn over heated  pressure plate or disc brakes,  if it wallows out it's usually at the muzzle end,  also got remember barrel steels are not perfect you can get soft /hard spots in various sections of the barrel  giving barrel makers fits.  and yes you can wear/damage a barrel by improper/over cleaning.

It’s always nice to see a person start a web forum account specifically to bitch about a product. The vindictiveness is so appealing.

Fire cracking is "scaling" on the inside of the barrel.  Fire cracking, through a Borescope, actually looks like an alligators back.  All rifle barrels do it eventually.  Heat/cool cycles along with the natural abrasiveness of powders will cause this.  119-120 grains of powder on 30-378 wby is 2-3 times of powder of a normal cartridge so premature (1000-1500 rounds and as high as 2000-3000 on a standard caliber) is typical.  Just didn't think it would be this premature.
