Suppressors———What do you like?
« on: July 02, 2024, 09:24:20 PM »
I want to get a suppressor. I have several rifles with threaded barrels so no alterations are needed, other than the right adapter for securing “the can” to the barrel.

Based on experience, what are the suppressors you like, want, or should avoid?
Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, she walks into mine.

I don't have any suppressors (although I would love to have one or two), but one thing I know, is that they get dirty with use like the rest of the gun. If I was going to get one soon, I'd be making sure I got one that can be disassembled for cleaning (some come apart quickly and easily and some don't). Generally speaking, the longer ones are quieter than the short ones. A friend of mine has two, and boy, they really quiet a rifle down to more of a .22LR kind of report. With a modular suppressor, you can adjust the length and (I think) in some cases, caliber application.

Get a Thunder Beast if accuracy and great suppression are important to you.  Also, go ahead and get a 22 suppressor.  They are tons of fun!  The Silencer Co. Omega is a really nice can as well.

I bought a Rugged Razor 7.62 suppressor and bought several muzzle adapters.   I can mount this suppressor on my 308 AR all the way down to my 5.56 AR.  They are full auto rated, with a lifetime warranty and the price will kill your wallet.

If they are ever removed from the gun control act of 1934 you can bet the prices will drop by a magnitude. The cost of materials and machining , realistic markup for retailers should place them in the $150 to $300 range. Look at how much more complicated and with more precision parts a semi auto pistol is and can be sold for half the price of many suppressors on the market today.

Our government and Hollywood are filled with stupid incompetent idiots.  Europe has stricter gun laws than we do, and you can buy a suppressor over the counter.  In South Africa it is the same.  You go to the store, buy what you like and walk home with one.  None of the nonsense of the ATF.  Now, I doubt the government will give up the $200 tax.  I'd gladly give them $200 if I could just walk home with one and not deal with the long wait.
