Hi I am new here I recently picked up my German Weatherby Mark V that was originally 30 06 but the previous owner had it rechambered to 308 Norma Magnum.
My question is I found an early 270 Weatherby Barrel. but now I think it might have been from one of the Mauser action weatherbys. is the thread pitch still the same and will it fit on the mark V

I don't have the slightest idea but you can call Weatherby at 1-307-765-7840 Monday morning and find out. The action may be threaded metric or in inches, same for the barrel. Nice finds by the way and welcome to the forum.

Hi Dino thanks I am happy to have found it.
Just would like it to be in a weatherby caliber
And you are right Weatherby would probably know.

Dino is right.  WBY keeps very good recods and will share their info.  They had the info on my 1959 WBY MKV.
One other problem you will have is the bolt face.  A 30.06 would not work for a 270WBY.  It would for a 240WBY.  But I am not a gunsmith.

If the rifle was rechambered for .308 Norma Mag, the bolt face would have to have been opened to accommodate the .530 dia, Norma cartridge.

When it was rechambered the bolt face was opened up.

There were no 6 lug,Mark V,actions made by Sauer and Sohn that were long enough to be chambered in 30-06

If that 270 barrel has Made in West Germany stamped on it,it would work on your action. If not,it is probably from a Southgate built on the FN Mauser action.
