I go directly to the national hurricane center and base my decisions on my best guess as they are doing. After the hurricanes here, the news looked all over for the worst damage they could find. One house they filmed here was under construction, so it was a mess and roofless before and after the hurricanes. The NHC is saying the gulf coast should be watching the wave in the Carribean. Hurricane Andrew was a cat 5. Hurricane Katrina was a powerful cat 4. Once in a thousand years in that spot? The worst messes I dealt with at the telco were tropical storm Agnes and a ice storm on the eastern shore of Md. that took down tons of trees and telephone/power poles. Agnes dumped 20 some inches of rain in 14 hours on the D.C. area and worse in Pa. .

It looks like the tropical wave in the Carribean has disappeared, another lucky break!  :)

We’re still in the low to mid 90’s here with no rain in sight.

Are Helene, our weather changed, and it's been rather nice during the day and the evenings.  Mid 80s during the day, and mid to low 60s during the night.  Humidity has been a bit on low side as well.  Come on Fall.  :)

The latest NHC forecast says I should be looking out at a potential storm forming up in the gulf. We did have one cross from the gulf  before.

Had frost again yesterday morning and a high of 83. Overnight low was 61 with a high of 73 forecast for today. One constant about the weather here is that it's always changing.

It's now tropical depression 14. The next name is Milton. The prediction says it could be a major hurricane at landfall on the lower gulf coast here mid week. That's 70 some miles from me. They advise the Bahamas to keep an eye on this. That would mean going right over me.

Lets hope it doesn’t come close enough to the Palm Brach area to do any real damage, because that one freighting quote will surface again, “I’m from the government, and I’m here to help.” FEMA is broke, and they’ll find some way to blame it on Trump ::). Seriously, heres hoping you won’t be in harm’s way.

The funny part last time around was the power bill showing up while we had no electricity. Florida Power and Light became Florida power and no light. FPL did have a truck come by and bring us some food. My house is concrete block and stucco. It ain't going anywhere. Your words about the government are an actual quote of Reagan's scariest words. I will always remember President Bush handing out ice and water to us at my local fire house in 2004. The only supplies I might need are some D cell batteries and a bag of dog food. I have C cell batteries for one of my mag lights. I have a functional walk man that can keep up on the weather reports and a VHF radio as well. We'll be OK in any case. This won't be my first rodeo. Thanks,Danno!

Hurricane conditions possible Wensday is the latest. The fun part is it's supposed to rain today and Monday, making closing up more difficult.  :)

I'm all buttoned up for Milton. It is pouring rain now and supposed to do that for tomorrow as well. I may have done it a bit early just to avoid the rain. My street is pretty much flooded now.  I closed the slider shutters at the house I take care of. That takes about 15 minutes.  I am currently about 50 miles inside the 5 day cone. If the rain lets up some, I'll get a bag of dog food. The supermarket is about a mile away.
