New to Weatherby - Some help Appriciated
« on: January 27, 2025, 06:28:51 AM »
I am new to weatherby rifles and inherited a rifle. I am trying to figure out what model it is. The serial number is H160226, I found its date range 84-86 but am uncertain the model and other details along with the value. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I hope you aren't sensitive to recoil.Looks like the barrel is 24 inches as most were.Maybe all were.I can't ever remeber seeing one that has a 26 inch barrel. The model came out for the Weatherby shooter that wanted a little lighter rifle that was more durable in harsher conditions. At the end of the stock there are 2 pillars that the barrel rests on.If I remember right they came out in 1983 and were about $375 cheaper than a Deluxe,Mark V.Stock was made by McMillan. If it was chambered in 240,257,or 270 it would be worth a little more in my opinion.

If you contact Weatherby by email they will tell you more specific information.  The even told me the month of production of a few of mine.

I have a fibermark 257 with a 26" barrel, so they did make a few with a 26.

I recently acquired a similar Fibermark. The recoil pad is simply a hard piece of rubber and does nothing as far as recoil absorption. If you keep the rifle, I suggest getting a new pad or a slip-on pad made by Pacmayr. That's what I have until a new pad is on.
