New Accumark

A few months back I bought a .300 Weatherby Accumark (my first) and other then a couple sight in sessions, last Friday was my first time seriously trying to see how accurate it was.  All I can say is I'm very impressed.

My best group came with factory 180 grain partitions.  With this I got a 1/2 inch group.  I haven't tried all the different factory loadings, nor have I reloaded for this rifle yet.  But if this were I'm starting out, I'm very impressed.  The rifle handled very well and I'm looking forward to the coming black bear season.

OK second round of ammo testing and I could'nt reproduce the first sessions group which I suspected may have been a fluke.  Even I can occasionally wobble the right way after pulling the trigger!  ;)

Today's  session produced a one inch group with 180 grain Hornady softpoints and 1 1/4 group with 180 Nosler Partitions that I'm going to hunt with.  This is more then satisfactory for my purposes. All of these are Weatherby factory ammo.

Overall I'm more then pleased with how the Accumark shoots.  The recoil seems less then most .300 Winchester magnums I've shot.  I do think the stock really does make a difference.

Yep some of those .300 can really smacked ya.  This Weatherby is really great though.  I've wanted one my whole life and now of course wonder why it took so long. ::)

So far it's been Hornady soft points & Nosler Partition.  I also used some Remington Corelokts.  All were 180 grain.  Next I want to try Nosler Accubonds.  I'm building a collection of brass for reloading later.
