Free Floating An Ultralightweight...

I've added a .270 Wby Ultralight weight to my collection. The one thing I noticed right away is that there are two contact points towards the front of the stock that contact the barrel. All my other weatherby's have a free floated barrel, and I was wondering if these contact points are there to somehow bennifit the lighter contour barrel ? Any info would be much appreciated..

Yes they are, they are for same point of impacted on shot to shot placement.
I would not remove them on a 1# whip barrel.
