I was tagged out by Monday and got recruited to call for another hunter in camp. Tom and Keith are two great guys from Arkansas who I hit it off with from day one. Keith had tagged out and so had I, so the plan was for Keith to video the hunt and for me to do the calling. Tom was the shooter. I brought my camera along to take some shots if an opportunity presented itself. Boy I'm glad I did..
The story is the same here, watering hole setup and Corder slate. A jake arrived very soon after I started calling and a great longbeard only a few moments afterward. Knowing we were videoing the hunt I fired off some yelps with the gobbler standing only 15 yards away to see if I could get him to gobble or strut. He was having no part of it though, he eased behind some trees so I took my chance and got the camera up. I got over 30 pics of this beautiful Goulds tom at only a few feet from me.
Minutes later Mr. Tom Baker shot Mr. Tom Threetoes for another great videotaped hunt..
The best bird of the trip, just missed 20 lbs, 11 1/2" beard and 7/8" spurs..
