I will never use Bts again in my magnums. I shot a Muley buck one year with a 7 Rem mag and the BT glanced off his skin, traveled up his neck(on the outside), and blew off his lower jaw. I had to chase that buck up over the hill before I got another shot at him. I have never bought another BT for big game. They work great for varmints and predators though.

I should have clarified that I was using Winchester factory loaded Nosler Ballistic tips. I now only shoot them at targets. I have not tried the Accubonds, so I cannot comment on them. They may be great, I don't know. Now I use Nosler Partitions or Hornady Interbonds in my rifles, at least for big game.

My 300 Wby shoots 1 1/2 inch groups at 300 yards using Hornadt 190 grain spbt; so I use it for everything.  Last antelope shot had through hole both lungs, with exit hole about the size of a quarter.  I have never recovered a bullet, even from elk, and have never experienced "blow up", nor ruined eatable meat.

never actually shot my 300 accumark yet and i'm in australia but for me i wouldn't use anything but a barnes tsx.  i shot 3 asiatic water buffalo with a 30 06 and 168 gn tsx and they did the trick not quite enough power in the rifle but the bullets were excelent. then later in the hunt i shot a dingo with the same projectile and it again wodked flawlessly. barnes tsx get my vote all the way

I have seen mixed results with Hornady Ballistic Tipped (SST's) with their Interlock bullets.  I have had much more reliable results with Nosler BT's.  I use them in a 30-06 and 270 Win bolt actions exclusively.  I got away from the really thin jacketed SST Interlock.  The bullet was more explosive than anything else.  The Nosler are more heavily constructed.  That said for whitetails, which are no more sturdy than antelope, I would not hesitate to use a BT bullet if I were going with a plastic tip.   It will come down to what is best suited for your use and confidence is a big part of that.  In a 270 WSM, I now only use a light jacketed 130 gr Gameking with blistering results.  When I did go to Nevada a few years back I used the same rifle for Antelope.  At that time I was using a bonded Hornady with an SST.  The bullet, admittedly worked great.  It was a 275 yard shot.  When I used the same round at 100 yards on deer in New York, the results were more erratic.  I think you want to consider things like SD and whenever possible lean to the heavier side without giving up too much of the performance especially on longer shots. Its the balancing act of right too for the right job.  In a Semi-auto 7400 30-06 I use a slowed down 180 gr Speer Hot-Core.  It performs the best as I need it to in that rifle for the way I use it to hunt (its basically a brush gun and a half).  That said, I would NOT take that combo outside of the heavy timber hunting at all.   In that same camp I was in, a guy was using a 300 Wby with a 150 gr. commercial Hornady 150 gr bonded.  He had no problems with that round at all.  He shot a pronghorn buck about as far as mine.  The guide I had swears by 25-06  with a 117 gr BT bullet.  He called it the ultimate loading for them.

For antelope at some distance the Nosler BT would be a pretty good bullet.
150's or 165's depending on what shoots the best.  I don't like them for mixed terrain where a close in shot is possible.  My experience with the BT is that the expansion is a little over enthusiatic for my tastes.  The Accubond has corrected this and shoots just as well or better in my rifles.  The 300 will make for a first rate antelope set up. Lots of bullet choices out there and antelope are not real tuff to kill so I would be more concerned with acuuracy first,  no real need for a super tough premium bullet to get the job done.

I agree, you'd want the velocity to fall off a bit or the BT will just detonate on impact.

Hi Eman
I see you didnt have A 300 listed in your gun rack So are you looking to buy A 300 for this hunt? If so and you mostly hunt black tail. I think you would be better served with A little less gun. But if you do have one I think you have heard several good pices of advice to make it work well. But as A whole Ideal Pronghorn cartriges range from 243 thru 7mm Mag. including the 257 weatherby. I thru that in cuz its there site. lol
