Gas prices and rifle calibers
« on: February 28, 2012, 05:23:33 PM »
As I drove home today in gridlock traffic, I passed several gas stations and observed the prices.  Since I was bored out of my mind, I began to see rifle calibers in the gas prices:  375 WBY, 378 WBY, and yes even the dreaded 416 WBY.

Hopefully I'm not seeing the 505 Gibbs anytime soon!

Lol.Sure wish it was in the 224,240,or 257 wby calibers.$3.99 for diesel here today.Gas for mowing the yard is getting cost prohibitive.I think that is where I will start conserving. ;D

They are advertising a 341 here. Not too long ago it was a 311.  I sure miss the days of the BB gun prices, .77.

I actually rode in a Prius earlier today--my first time ever.  The good news is that it got 54 miles to the gallon; the bad new was that it was . . . a Prius!  I would still rather choke down what it costs to drive my truck than drive a Prius.

As a teenager,I worked at a ESSO station ;D Regular gas was 27.9 cents! So yea ,I already saw the big calibers in prices, just the decimal point was in  a different place!

We have the 4.50 Marlin here for Diesel in S.W. Washington. Filling my truck now is the same as a box of .378 Wea. Mag. ammo !!!!!  REALLY ?????!!!!!!! The frustrating part is the total lack of reason for it.

I wish it still 338 Win Mag or 340 Wby prices!  I can't recall the last time it was 300 Wby.

Us older coots should remember the pistol cartridge gas prices, I do.  .30, ..32, .38, .40 (not invented yet), .41, .44, and .45.  As Husky said, get ready for the British double gun caliber price correlations.  On a side note, I have been on the highway a bunch yesterday and today, and according to my engine computer, I averaged almost constantly, 24.0 miles per gallon in my Jeep.  Does that mean that a .240 Weatherby is in the picture somewhere.  MM

;D Almost 338 here in ABQ but do not get out in rural NM without your pocket full of cash as it's in the neighborhood of Roger's last purchase, MM my Tundra does not miss many gas stations between here and Las Vegas as doing 80+ MPH will only give me between 11 to 13 MPG so I have probably been on my last road trip for a while ::)  We are still better off than my BIL out on the left coast as they have some crazy California gas taxes that they get bilked out of. Looks like I need to set home and practice on my reloading technique as if I had one! BIL said he was paying 4.25 out on left coast!
