Welcome to the site and congratulations on your new Weatherby.  I'm sure you'll be a fan just like the rest of us.
Nothing is better than a Weatherby, big bore magnum, or a Colt.

Well I pick up my PA-08 friday 4-26-13. Now to let y'all know right off the bat this is my 1st purchase on a shotgun in over 30 years new or used. So here is one thing I learned is to never judge a shotgun round on the price lol. The firat thing I did after picking up my brand new PA-08 was to stop by my local Bass Pro to grap a box of shells. I found a box of winchester 3inch 1 1/8oz #4 25 in a box for 14.99 per box and bought 2 ;D. But I will get back to that later.

Now I am not new to guns. My dad was a self made gunsmith that could repair or machine parts for about anything he got his hands on except machining the barrell. So I grew up around guns untill I got into bow-hunting about 25 years ago. But I got out of bow hunting when I torn up my shoulder and had to have surgery and pulling a bow string was not a option any more.

Well the PA-08 has a length of pull that is about 1/4 inch longer than I am use to but I am adjusted to that already. I am 5'8" with average length arms just to let you know, I am more comforted with 13 1/2 to 13 3/4 lenth of pull.

The 3 chokes that come with it are great but I put the full choke away in my gun supply drawer since I will be shooting steel shot. But the mod and IC chokes pattern great.

I went to a friends house since he has a few acres outside the city limits of Terrell Tx to shoot my newly aquired firearm. Clean and oil the gun while I was putting it together and was amazed how well it came together and everything seem to fit great. I took the plug out since I was not going to hunt but just blast targets.

Well loaded 5 rounds in of the ammo I bought and took a bead on a cardboard target to check the pattern for the mod choke. I pulled the trigger and boy did the gun kick like a mule. Well my friend standing there and happen to look at the ammo I bought and made the comment that the rounds I bought are magnum rounds. I said no-way not for a box of 25 for 14.99 but they was. He went inside and brought a standard 12guage round and the brass was half the length of the brass I was shooting. So hence the comment never judge a box of ammo by price  ;D.

Well after he and I went thru 50 rounds of ammo and  after getting into the point and pull on a few crows and on some unwanted critters in his pond I am very happy with my PA-08 except for the stock recoil pad I am replacing with a limb saver for the magnum rounds lol.
